Other Versions of the Peak Oil Theory

Here are seven websites that discuss peak oil from a variety of perspectives - from the "mainstream" (NY Times and CS Monitor) to the apocalyptic (Die Off). In reading these sites you will be able to get a sense of what lots of people, in addition to Heinberg, are saying about peak oil theory.

The goal for this part of the course is still helping you have a sense of the theory. These sources will help you do that. Please read at least 4 of the following websites, and write an analysis of important overlaps and contradictions between the sites for your blog. You can also use your notes from "End of Suburbia" as a source.

  • Energy Bulletin

  • Life After the Oil Crash

  • The Oil Drum

  • NY Times article

  • Christian Science Monitor article

  • Die Off

  • The Post Carbon Institute - created by Heinberg and others
